It’s Saturday morning and you need a decorated cake for a dinner party… Tonight!!!

You have some extra cakes in the fridge but no other decorations prepared.

Don’t worry, I’ve got you covered.

All you need is some buttercream and your trusted icing knives.

You can achieve this look while on vacation or at a friend’s house for an impromptu celebration.

Once you’ve got the hang of this, imagine applying it to create fish scales or flower petals.  If you really want to go crazy use different shaped palette knifes for different textures.

Tips and tricks:

If you don’t have any piping bags handy use a plastic baggie with one corner snipped off to make the rows of dollops.

Also, the tip of a spoon can be used in place of the icing knife.
