While my husband and I were living overseas my neighbor was expecting a baby boy. All of our friends gathered together to help celebrate this much anticipated addition to her family with a woodland themed shower which included this delightful baby owl.
I found the clipart on the web using one of the common search engines and printed the image on regular printer paper.
Two shades of blue are presented for the owl’s body, but depending on the theme or color scheme of your celebration any two colors will work along with the white and black for the eyes.

Tips and Tricks
- Fondant is easier to cut with an exacto knife when the fondant is a little dried out and stiff. Roll out a small piece of fondant in each color a few hours in advance before starting the assembly.
- Fondant adheres best with water or tylose powder mixed with water. Many brands such as Wilton have ready to use pre-made “Edible Glue”. These will also work.
- When your owl is finished let it dry out overnight. This will help keep it’s shape and stay upright on the cake when the fondant is stiff.
